Privacy Policy
Your fasting log is yours. Here's exactly how صيام (Siyam) respects that.
Last Updated: May 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to صيام (Siyam) ("we," "our," or "us"), developed and published by MainCreator Lab. We are committed to protecting your privacy, especially in an app that touches something as personal as your worship and your daily routine. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, how the صيام (Siyam) iOS mobile application (the "App") handles your information.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this policy, please do not use the App.
2. Summary — In One Paragraph
صيام (Siyam) is a fully on-device, privacy-first fasting tracker. We do not operate any servers that hold your data. We do not require an account, email, or password. Your fasting log, preferences, location coordinates, and chosen calculation method live only on your iPhone. Notifications are scheduled locally; prayer-time calculations happen on-device. We do not track you across other apps or websites and fully comply with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
صيام (Siyam) is designed with a privacy-first approach. We want to be completely transparent about what we do not collect:
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identification information.
- We do not require account creation, sign-in, or user registration.
- We do not collect, store, or transmit any of your fasting data — including the days you fasted, fasting type, planned days, streaks, or notes.
- We do not transmit your location to any server. Location is used only on-device to compute prayer times.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, reminders, or health data.
- We do not sell, trade, or rent any information to third parties.
- We do not use third-party analytics SDKs that profile users (e.g., Facebook SDK, TikTok SDK, or similar).
4. Local Data Storage
صيام (Siyam) stores all user-generated content and preferences locally on your device. This includes:
- Fasting log: Every fast you log — date, fasting type (Ramadan, Sunnah, intermittent), status, and any optional note — is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's local storage frameworks.
- Settings & preferences: Mode (Religious / Intermittent), prayer-time calculation method, madhab, intermittent protocol, theme, notification toggles, and adhan preferences are stored using
UserDefaults/AppStorage. - Location: Your latitude, longitude, and optional custom city name are stored locally so prayer times can be calculated without re-asking each launch.
This data is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted to our servers or any external service. If you delete the App, all locally stored data will be permanently removed from your device.
5. Permissions We May Request
The App is designed to ask for as few permissions as possible. The following permissions are optional and only requested when you enable a feature that needs them:
5.1 Notifications
If you enable any of Siyam's reminders — Suhoor / Imsak reminder, Iftar reminder, Maghrib adhan, or Sunnah day reminder — iOS will ask for permission to send you notifications. The corresponding iOS prompt is presented by the system the first time you turn a reminder on.
- All notifications are scheduled locally on your device using Apple's
UserNotificationsframework. No remote server is involved. - The bundled adhan sound file (
adhan.caf) is played by iOS through the local notification — no streaming, no internet. - You can disable any reminder individually in the App's Settings, or revoke all notification permission at any time under iOS Settings > Notifications > Siyam.
5.2 Location (When In Use)
If you choose to use automatic location for prayer times, iOS will display the system permission prompt with the following message:
"نحتاج موقعك لحساب أوقات السحور والإفطار بدقة." (We need your location to accurately calculate Suhoor and Iftar times.)
- Siyam requests "When In Use" location access only — never "Always". The App does not access your location in the background.
- Location accuracy is intentionally limited to ~100 m, which is more than precise enough for prayer-time calculations and minimizes any sensitivity around your exact whereabouts.
- Your coordinates are used only on-device by the open-source Adhan calculation library to derive Suhoor, Imsak, Fajr, Maghrib, and Iftar times. They are never sent to our servers or any third party.
- If you decline location, the App falls back to a default city (Makkah) and you can manually enter or change a custom location at any time in Settings.
- You can revoke or change location permission at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Siyam.
5.3 Optional Future Permissions
Siyam does not currently request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, calendar, reminders, or HealthKit. If a future version ever introduces a feature that needs one of these permissions, the iOS system prompt will appear with a clear explanation, and you will always be free to decline.
6. App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
In full compliance with Apple's App Store Review Guidelines and the App Tracking Transparency framework:
- The core صيام (Siyam) experience does not track your activity across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not use your Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) for our own tracking.
- The App integrates Google AdMob for occasional, modest in-app advertisements that help support development. The first time the App attempts to show a personalized ad, iOS will display the standard App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether you allow the App "to track your activity across other companies' apps and websites." You may allow or deny this; the App will continue to function either way.
- If you deny tracking, you may still see ads — they will simply be non-personalized (contextual). No identifier is shared with the ad network for cross-app tracking purposes.
- You can review or change your tracking preferences at any time under iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
7. Advertising
صيام (Siyam) may display occasional advertisements served by Google AdMob to support continued development of the App. These ads are interstitial (full-screen) and are shown sparingly between sessions; they are never inserted between you and a prayer time, an adhan, or a fast log.
AdMob may collect limited technical information (such as your device type and IP address) to deliver and measure ads. Whether ads are personalized depends on your ATT choice (see section 6) and on any consent you have given through Google's own consent flow. We do not pass any of your fasting data, location coordinates, or personal information to AdMob.
For more details on how Google handles data collected through AdMob, please see Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
8. Analytics and Crash Reports
To improve the App's stability and performance, we may rely on Apple's own built-in tools, which you control through your iOS settings:
- Apple Crash Reports: If you have opted in to "Share iPhone Analytics" under Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized crash and performance data with developers. You can turn this off at any time in iOS Settings.
- We do not embed any third-party analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.) in the App.
- Any data Apple shares with us through its tools contains no personal information, no fasting data, and no location data — only aggregated crash stacks and device/OS metadata useful for fixing bugs.
9. Children's Privacy
صيام (Siyam) is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has been provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Third-Party Services and Links
The App may contain links to third-party websites (for example, our website or support page) that are not owned or controlled by us. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with.
11. Data Security
Because all user data is stored locally on your device, it benefits from the hardware-level encryption and security features provided by Apple's iOS platform, including device passcode protection, file-system encryption, and Secure Enclave protection of biometric authentication.
12. International Users & GDPR / CCPA
Because صيام (Siyam) does not collect personal data on its own servers, there is typically no personal data for us to export or delete on your behalf — your data lives solely on your device and is under your control at all times. Nevertheless, depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:
- The right to know what data a service holds about you (in our case: none).
- The right to request deletion of any data associated with you (in our case: simply delete the App).
- The right to object to tracking and profiling (we do not track you in the core experience; for ads, see section 6).
13. Religious Disclaimer
صيام (Siyam) is a personal aid for tracking fasts and informational prayer times. It is not a fatwa-issuing authority and does not replace the guidance of qualified scholars. Prayer-time calculations depend on the calculation method and madhab you choose; we recommend confirming locally observed timings (e.g., your local mosque) for ritual matters of importance.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
