Help and answers for Speedox (عداد السرعة)
Frequently Asked Questions About Speedox (عداد السرعة)
How accurate is the speed Speedox shows?
Speedox uses Apple's Best-for-Navigation Core Location pipeline and smooths the reading with an exponential moving average so the needle stays calm. Accuracy depends entirely on the GPS signal your iPhone can receive at that moment. In an open sky you can expect a variation of about 1-3 km/h compared with your car's dashboard. Under tunnels, in dense urban canyons, or indoors, the satellite signal can drop completely - when that happens, Speedox shows "searching" and stops updating until a fix returns. Speedox is a reference tool, not a calibrated speedometer; always rely on your vehicle's own dashboard for legal speed.
Which units does Speedox support?
Three: km/h, mph, and knots. Tap the unit chip in the dial header to switch between them - your choice is remembered. The dial maximum and tick steps adapt to the unit you pick.
How do I change the dial style?
Swipe left or right on the dial to flip through the seven styles, or tap one of the dots beneath the dial to jump directly. You can also lock a default style from Settings - pick Classic, Modern, LED amber, LED green, HUD, Map, or Aurora.
What does each dial style look like?
- Classic - traditional analogue needle (red) on a circular gauge with tick marks, like a real car dashboard.
- Modern - a cyan ring sweep with an orange accent and a clean futuristic number using the Orbitron font.
- LED amber - a 7-segment digital readout in amber with a soft glow, like a vintage car computer.
- LED green - the same 7-segment look in vivid green, for those who prefer a different glow.
- HUD - a giant mirrored number designed to reflect off your windshield.
- Map - a live MapKit canvas that follows you around with a cyan route trail drawn behind you.
- Aurora - a soft gradient background with a neon-style number, the most decorative of the bunch.
How do I set a speed alert?
Open Settings (the gear icon at the top), tap the speed alert section, enable the alert, and set your threshold in the current unit. When you cross the threshold, Speedox will speak an Arabic phrase through your speaker and pulse a haptic feedback through your iPhone's Taptic Engine. A hysteresis margin (about 8% below the threshold) prevents the alert from repeating on borderline speeds.
Why doesn't my speed change in the simulator or at a standstill?
If you're using the iOS Simulator, Core Location returns a speed of -1 by default. Speedox handles this by falling back to a distance-over-time calculation when the reported speed is invalid - but you still need to feed the simulator a route ("Features > Location > City Run"). On a real iPhone at a standstill the same logic keeps the dial pinned at 0, which is exactly what you want.
How do I record and replay a trip?
Trips are recorded automatically while Speedox is in the foreground and the GPS source is set to Live. When you stop, the trip is saved to your local history with its date, duration, distance, and max/average speed. Open the history button (the clock icon at the top) to see your full list, and tap any trip to replay its route as a polyline on the map.
How do I export my trips to CSV?
Open the history screen, tap the share button, and pick "Export CSV". Speedox creates a clean comma-separated file that you can share via WhatsApp, Mail, AirDrop, or save to the Files app. The CSV opens cleanly in any spreadsheet (Numbers, Excel, Google Sheets) so you can keep your own log of your trips.
What is the 0-100 acceleration test?
Tap the stopwatch icon at the top to open the acceleration test. Hit "Start", floor the throttle from a complete standstill, and Speedox times you all the way up to 100 km/h (or 60 mph, depending on your unit). The run is saved next to your trips and can be reviewed any time. Please only attempt this on a closed track or a legal venue.
What is the speed and altitude chart?
Tap the chart icon at the top to open a live chart of your last 30 minutes of driving. You see two stacked traces: speed in cyan and altitude in orange, sharing the same time axis. Drag your finger across to scrub through the trip - Speedox snaps a ruler and reads out the exact value at that moment.
Which languages does Speedox support?
Two: Modern Standard Arabic (with a full right-to-left layout, the Tajawal typeface, and clear easy-to-read numerals) and English. The default follows your iOS system language, and you can override it from Settings > Language. Voice alerts are spoken in Arabic using the system voice.
Does Speedox work in landscape mode?
Yes. Rotate your iPhone and Speedox switches to a landscape layout - the dial stays large on the left and your statistics column moves to the right. Portrait remains the default.
Why does Speedox ask for my location?
Because that is the only way to show you a real speed. Speedox asks for the "While Using" location authorization only (not "Always"), reads the GPS in-memory through Apple's Core Location framework, and never uploads any coordinate. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
Does the app show ads or track me?
The app is free and is supported by a single, non-intrusive banner ad at the bottom of the screen, served by Google AdMob. Before any tracking happens, iOS shows you the standard App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt - you can decline tracking and the app will continue to work with non-personalized ads only. We never use your GPS or trip data for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Do I need an internet connection?
No - not for the speedometer itself. GPS, the dial, the voice alert, the trip recorder, the CSV export, and the acceleration test all work fully offline. An internet connection is only used for the optional banner ad, for the Firebase Remote Config fetch (a small JSON of feature flags), and to render Map tiles when you swipe to the Map style.
The app crashes or has performance issues. What should I do?
If you're experiencing issues, try these steps:
- Force-quit and restart the Speedox app.
- Make sure your device is running the latest version of iOS.
- Check the App Store for any available updates.
- Restart your iPhone.
- As a last resort, delete and reinstall the app - note that this will remove your local trip history, so export a CSV backup first.
If the issue persists, please email us at contact@maincreator.com with your device model and iOS version.
Getting Started with Speedox (عداد السرعة)
Step 1: Download and Open
Download Speedox from the App Store. Open the app - no sign-up required, no email, nothing. You are ready immediately.
Step 2: Allow Location
Tap "Allow While Using App" on the iOS location prompt. This is what lets Speedox read your GPS to compute live speed. You can change this any time in iOS Settings.
Step 3: Pick Your Unit and Vehicle
Open Settings and pick your unit (km/h, mph, knots) and your vehicle (car, motorcycle, bicycle, scooter). The dial maximum and the default style adapt to the vehicle you choose.
Step 4: Try the Styles
Back on the main screen, swipe across the dial to flip between the seven styles. Pick the one you like and lock it from Settings, or keep swiping.
Step 5: Set a Speed Alert
Open Settings, enable the alert, and set your threshold. When you cross it, Speedox will speak and pulse - so you don't have to keep glancing at the dial while you drive.
Step 6: Review and Export Your Trips
After a drive, open the history (clock icon) to review your trips, tap any one to replay its route, and use the share button to export your full history as a CSV file.
